First Audio Weblog Post

September 10, 2004 | Audioblogs and Podcasting, Brainwagon Radio | By: Mark VandeWettering

Well, this is my first attempt to enter the glamorous world of audioblogging. I’ve brutally hacked the wp-rss2.php script to output enclosures whenever you add the appropriate custom fields, and we shall see how this works.

The audio was recorded on my cheapy HP laptop at 64kbps, so no promises on the quality.

I FELL ASLEEP BECAUSE I WAS TIRED. NOT BECAUSE IT WAS BORING. I WAS TIRED. Tired.
Seriously, honey, I love listening to you talk. Keep up the good work. It might be fun to listen to this again in a few years… Preferably when I’m not exhausted. 🙂

Maciej Ceglowski recently posted an Audioblogging Manifesto. After Mark started posting audioblogs, I decided to go listen to his blog. Ceglowski makes some valid points on the subject:

* can’t “scan” the audioblog
* can’t index it (or, as a result, search it)
* aren’t likely to listen to it in a public environment

However, I actually think audioblogs are a good idea and I’ve enjoyed listening to your posts. Indeed, I enjoyed listening to Ceglowski’s audioblog manifesto (the crescendo of the marching music was apropos and entertaining).

Keep up the good work!
