What’s the last place you would look?

November 17, 2004 | My Diary | By: Mark VandeWettering

Imagine the following.

You are home all day, sick from work. You don’t go anywhere special, or do anything outside your home. Yet, at the end of the day, you look down at your hand and to your horror, discover that your wedding ring has slipped off your finger sometime during the day! Eek!

Well, it’s not quite that dire. I didn’t lose my wedding ring.

My wife did.

They say that lost items are always in the last place you look. So, the question is: where is the last place you would look for a missing ring?

in the sheets in the bed? in gloves? in the dryer/washer? in the couch cushions? in your cat (erm, the litter box in a few days)

I know Carmen was sick with that bad cold that has been going around. Usually when I lose a ring it’s when I’m sleeping. I’ve often found them down in the crack behind the headboard, under the bed or in back of the night table.

Sometimes, I’ve taken them off in my sleep, especially if I’m sick. It may be in a safe place that is just forgotten. I don’t know if Carmen got as sick as I did with that bug that’s been going around, but it is nasty. I feel better, but it’s not totally gone after 2 weeks.

I’m sure when you find it, it will be in a silly place. Probably hiding in plain sight.
