Motion Capture Done Dirt Cheap

February 22, 2007 | General | By: Mark VandeWettering

I had the vaguest recollection of a SIGGRAPH sketch on creating an armature wired with potentiometers for creating an inexpensive motion capture setup. A bit of digging revealed that this done by Stefan Gustavson in 2002, and Tom was kind enough to run down this link to his page which somehow eluded by Google-fu.

Hi Mark, Like your site.
I have motion question. I want to do a 3DOF motion platform for personal gaming purposes and want to extract motion telemetry data from PC games. I’ve seen some one-off API’s from a few vendors, are you aware of any TCP or UDP common formats? Googling has taken me to places like your site, but nothing more.
Regards,
Pete

Sorry, you are well outside my area of expertise. I suspect there are probably few standards for such data.
