Building Yagi Antennas

March 19, 2010 | Amateur Radio | By: Mark VandeWettering

I previously made a half-assed “cheap yagi” just using some aluminum wire and a scrap of wood from the garage, but I’ve been thinking of making something a bit more permanent. What I needed was some practical information on tools and techniques, and this is so far the best article that I managed to find, either online or in my collection of books.

Saved for next weekend, hopefully.

I built long-boom UHF yagi once. Used square cross-section extruded aluminium for the boom, which avoided the problem of drilling into a cylinder. Simple drill press and a vice is all that was needed, marking gauge was helpful.
