Day 20, A tiny vise
This may not quite be a gem, but it's a tool that I have found a use for in my shop. It is a very tiny vise, that can clamp to the edge of a shelf or workbench, and hold a small item in place. In my shop, it finds a use to hold items that I need to solder. I have no idea to the age, or the maker. It is not a very fancy tool, and is in pretty rough shape. One thing that bothers me is that the jaws aren't very flat, so they don't come together in a straight line. I keep thinking I should disassemble it and file the jaws flat, but the construction is with rivets, so I'd have to drill them out and rerivet, and this little tool doesn't seem like it is worth the bother. If I had a sand blaster, I'd probably take the finish off and recoat it with some better enamel. Perhaps I'll do that at some point in the future.
I guess if I have any vises, they are all small ones. Or did I mean vices?
Happy Tuesday.
