A 3D printed 2" Focuser

Just as a note to myself, I ran across Marco's seemingly excellent 2" Crayford focuser design and decided that I had to archive it here for future projects. I have a couple of focuser lying around in my garage, and even a fairly nice 2" model that I was thinking of coopting for my 12.5" f/5 project, but this design seems really interesting, and I like the idea of using 3D printing to create telescope accessories, or even whole telescopes.

The complete design is available on Thingiverse and in preparation I've ordered some matte black PLA to experiment with. I haven't looked at the detail in great detail yet, but I've recently begun to use threaded inserts to assemble more complex mechanical parts, and this focuser uses that technique as well. It might be an interesting project to put on the back burner. If I give it a try, I'll be sure to post here.
