Day 55, My Workshop Stool

Returning to stuff I've made instead of antiques, here is a simple but immensely sturdy workshop stool that I made back at the beginning of my journey into woodworking.

I didn't design the stool myself, I got the design from the "Sawdust Sisters", and constructed it in a single afternoon. Despite being very, very simple, I still managed not to follow the directions, but it only differs in a way that doesn't matter. You can construct them out of two 2x4s, and they are sturdy. I use this one quite often as a kind of temporary small workbench. You can hammer on them, put really heavy objects on them, or if you really want to risk your balance, stand on them (not recommended, especially if you are clutzy like me). The seat is flat which means you probably don't want to spend hours sitting on them, but having one around the shop gives you a place to take a quick break or have a place for your guests to take a seat. I think if I were going to do this again, I'd make a pair so I could use them as a kind of adhoc sawhorse setup.

Thanks to the Sawdust Sisters for the design and inspiration.

Happy Monday!
