I suspect the world would be better if that percentage were even greater.
Wow! A computer built from 12v relays…
This is just completely nuts, an 8 bit computer constructed entirely from 12 volt relays. It consumes 12 amps at 13.5 volts (160 watts). Hilarious.

tom duff your are stupid use a alower voltage for less power consumption try a pot to see how low you can go.

Wow. I have about 100 of relays (of exactly this type!) at home that I’m hoping to make a music sequencer out of. I was worried about power consumption, but this gives me hope. I thought the coil impedence on these guys was 600 ohms. At 12 volts, that’s 240 mA per relay, or 24 amps for a hundred of them, which his twice his power consumption. But, of course, only the energized relays consume power. He has 415 relays in his machine, which works out to about 100 Amperes. If he’s getting away with a 12 amp supply, 7/8 of his relays must be off at any one time. (Or maybe I’m misremembering and they’re really 5K ohm relays, but I don’t think so.)
